NBA 2020 Weekly Predictions – Game Week 4

Washington Wizards @ Orlando Magic

Orlando is starting to play better after an appalling start to the season. They now have 3 wins in their last 4 matches and they have a good opportunity to extend their run this evening since they are hosting one of the worst teams in the league.

Wizards have shown glimpses of positivity and got a few good performances from their young players, especially in offense. But they are very bad defensively and we expect Magic to seize the opportunity and get the win.

Our Pick: Magic on the Spread (-6.5)

Golden State Warriors @ New Orleans Pelicans

Warriors are on a good path to get a high lottery pick next summer since they look like one of the worst teams in the league. Curry will be out for a few months, Looney is still out indefinitely but now Russell will also miss at least two weeks with a sprained thumb.

While Pelicans also struggle with injuries with Zion Williamson out for a while and Ingram and Ball questionable for tonight, they still look much better than Warriors and we expect them to prove it tonight.

Our Pick: Pelicans on the Spread (-4.5)

Atlanta Hawks @ Los Angeles Lakers

Lakers are playing according to expectations and stand at the top of the Western Conference with 10 wins in 12 games. And it looks like their great run will continue this evening since they host a young, inexperienced team. Hawks will also miss John Collins due to suspension and they don’t have much to hope for in this duel.

However, the spread on Lakers seems a bit high for our taste, so we suggest backing Hawks on the spread, despite the fact that they lost by nearly 50 points last night against the other LA team, Clippers.

Our Pick: Hawks on the Spread (+13.5)

Milwaukee Bucks @ Indiana Pacers

Pacers are struggling with injuries at the moment but they have still managed to get plenty of wins despite it. They have won 4 out of their last 5 games, with their only loss coming last night against Rockets.

On the other hand, Bucks are having a bit of injury problems as well since they will be without Middleton for the next month or so. They are still favorites for this game but we believe that Pacers can hang on until the very end or even pull off an upset.

Our Pick: Pacers on the Spread (+4.5)

New Orleans Pelicans @ Miami Heat

Miami is having a fantastic season so far. With a score of 8-3 Heat shares the second place in the Eastern Conference with Bucks and Raptors. Their rookies Nunn and Herro are playing well and it seems like they have found a great leader in Butler.

Pelicans are struggling at the moment. They are a young team anyway but they also have injury problems with Williamson, Ball and Ingram out of contention. Back Heat in this game.

Our Pick: Heat on the Spread (-7.5)

Houston Rockets @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Timberwolves are pretty inconsistent this season since they are playing well but also manage to lose to worse teams occasionally, like they did last night at home against Wizards. Rockets have started the season struggling but now they have 6 wins in a row, including the win against Pacers last night.

Since both teams will play their second game of back-to-back, we don’t expect much of defense to be played. Both of these teams are also very efficient, so over seems like a good bet.

Our Pick: Over 233.5 Total Points

Toronto Raptors @ Dallas Mavericks

Raptors are playing without Lowry and Ibaka for a while now but they are still playing well enough to remain a top 4 team in the East. Dallas is pretty inconsistent this season and largely depends on performances of Doncic and Porzingis.

After losing to Knicks for the second time this season, Mavs will be hoping to get a win against the reigning champs. It is hard to predict this one but we believe that Mavs can get the win since Raptors will be missing a few important players.

Our Pick: Mavericks on the Spread (-3.5)

San Antonio Spurs @ Orlando Magic

Spurs have started the season well but now they are on a very bad run and find themselves outside of the playoff bracket. Of course, it is still early to predict anything but it seems that San Antonio might miss playoffs for the first time since 1998.

On the other hand, Magic got in a little bit of rhythm, winning two out of their last three games, including a surprising victory over 76ers. We lean towards Magic in this game but we suggest betting on under since both teams don’t really score in high numbers.

Our Pick: Under 212.5 Total Points

Indiana Pacers @ Houston Rockets

Rockets are getting better with each passing game and they now have five wins in a row, including a win against Clippers in their last game. Pacers are also playing great, despite the serious injury problems that they have. They will be without Turner, Lamb and Oladipo tonight as well.

With that in mind, it seems that Rockets shouldn’t have such a hard task this evening. The spread may be a bit on the high side but we believe Houston can get a convincing win.

Our Pick: Rockets on the Spread (-7.5)

Philadelphia 76ers @ Oklahoma City Thunder

After losing to Magic a couple of days ago, 76ers will be looking to bounce back with a win, especially since they have now lost 3 out of their last 5 games. OKC has the same score in the last 5 games but they have lost 2 in a row.

76ers are a much better team but they don’t seem very confident at the moment. This is a great chance for them to regain some of that confidence, so back 76ers tonight.

Our Pick: 76ers on the Spread (-3.5)

Washington Wizards @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Timberwolves are on a good run since they won 3 out of their last 4 games, losing only to Nuggets in overtime in the process. Wizards are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with just 2 wins this season.

The two teams already played once this year, when Wolves won in Washington despite being without Karl-Anthony Towns. We expect the poor Wizards run to continue tonight but you can also take over if you don’t like the spread on Wolves.

Our Pick: Timberwolves on the Spread (-7.5)

Chicago Bulls @ Milwaukee Bucks

Bulls have won two out of their last three games, although they beat Hawks without Collins and New York Knicks, so we are not yet ready to say that they are in good form. And it seems like their good run is going to end tonight since they will be playing against one of the best teams in the East.

Bucks have a score of 7-3 so far and they are clear-cut favorites for this one. But they will be without Khris Middleton for a while and we believe that Bulls can put up a fight and perhaps lose the game with less than 12 points.

Our Pick: Bulls on the Spread (+11.5)

Los Angeles Clippers @ New Orleans Pelicans

After losing last night to Rockets, Clippers will be looking to bounce back right away against one of the worst teams in the West. We will finally see Paul George in action since he is scheduled to make his debut for Clippers this evening.

However, this being the second game of back-to-back for LA, they might decide to give Kawhi Leonard a rest tonight, especially since he played 41 minutes last night. Despite this, we expect a convincing win for Clippers since Pelicans will be without Ball, Ingram and Williamson.

Our Pick: Clippers on the Spread (-4.5)

Atlanta Hawks @ Phoenix Suns

These two teams are perhaps the most positive stories this season. Phoenix has a score of 6-4 and it seems like they will fight for a playoff spot. Atlanta is at 4-6 but they are playing well, particularly Trae Young. Both teams have important players suspended – John Collins and Deandre Ayton.

While Phoenix looks like a safer pick for tonight, we suggest betting on points instead. Both teams score a lot of points, so we would back over in this game.

Memphis Grizzlies @ Charlotte Hornets

This will be a very interesting duel since both teams are looking at a lottery pick at the end of the season. Grizzlies are young and gritty and they have managed to pull off a couple of impressive wins, especially in their last game at San Antonio. Still, they are at the bottom of the Western Conference and these wins are not going to come very often.

On the other hand, Charlotte has been playing above expectations, although they had some luck with the schedule as well. They have a 4-6 record but they have lost 3 games in a row. We expect a hard-fought game with not too many points.

Our Pick: Under 219.5 Total Points

Philadelphia 76ers @ Orlando Magic

76ers won their last two games after losing three straight and they seem back on the winning track. This is their second night of back-to-back though, after the one-point win against Cavs last night. However, they will get Horford back tonight after they rested him yesterday.

On the other hand, Magic are struggling at the moment, with just 3 wins in 10 games. We don’t think their luck is about to change against one of the best teams in the East.

Our Pick: 76ers on the Spread (-2.5)

Los Angeles Clippers @ Houston Rockets

After announcing that George will play on Monday, Clippers decided to hold on a bit more with his return. He will also miss the tonight’s game and make his debut tomorrow against Pelicans. Kawhi Leonard is likely to play tonight but he will probably miss the second game of back-to-back like he did this season already.

Both teams enter this game with the same record and this duel should be very interesting and uncertain. Back over since both teams can score in bulk instead of trying to guess who wins at the end.

Our Pick: Over 230.5 Total Points

San Antonio Spurs @ Minnesota Timberwolves

After starting the season strong, both teams have fallen back a little bit recently. This is particularly true for Spurs since they have lost 4 out of their last 5 games, including losses to Memphis and Atlanta. Timberwolves have won two of their last three games, losing only to Denver in overtime.

We expect Spurs to play hard tonight but we don’t see them snatching the win here. Back Wolves to get the W in this one.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Indiana Pacers

Indiana is in great form, winning 6 out of their last 7 games. They did have a good schedule during this run but they also had major injury problems. They are still without Oladipo, Turner, Lamb and probably Bitadze. On the other hand, Thunder is healthy and full of youth energy.

This should be an interesting and tight duel but we still believe that Pacers can come on top, if only for the lack of experience on the young Thunder team.

Our Pick: Pacers on the Spread (-3.5)

Detroit Pistons @ Miami Heat

Blake Griffin finally made his debut this season in last night’s loss to Timberwolves. Pistons also had Rose back for that match but this is their second night of back-to-back and it is a big question whether Griffin and Rose will even play.

Whether they play or not, Heat is still the favorite for this game. They will miss Winslow again but they have plenty of depth since their rookies Nunn and Herro have been playing well. Take Heat on the spread.

Our Pick: Heat on the Spread (-7.5)

Brooklyn Nets @ Utah Jazz

Things are going well in Salt Lake City. Utah is playing good basketball and has a score of 7-3 to start the season. While this is their second game of back-to-back, Jazz should be able to put up a good performance since they don’t have any injury problems and have a solid depth in the roster.

On the other hand, Nets are having a bad start to the season considering their expectations, with just 4 wins in 9 games. Still, they have showed glimpses of what they could do and we believe they can put up a fight tonight.

Our Pick: Nets on the Spread (+6.5)

Portland Trailblazers @ Sacramento Kings

Perhaps the most interesting match will be played in California since both teams have started the season below their expectations and ability. However, Kings have started to turn things around, winning 3 out of their last 4 games.

Unfortunately, Kings will be without Fox for the next 3-4 weeks. Considering the fact that they are also playing without Bagley for a while now, it seems like Portland has the upper hand tonight.

Our Pick: Portland on the Moneyline

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Detroit Pistons

Timberwolves will play their second game in two days after losing to Denver in overtime last night. Now they are travelling to the East to play Pistons, who are still without Griffin, Jackson and Rose for this game. Wolves will probably play without Teague as well.

Neither team is in a good form, so we would avoid betting on final score despite the fact that we believe in Pistons for this game. We suggest backing under instead since Pistons lack firepower in offense and Wolves are tired from the previous game and subsequent travel.

Our Pick: Under 221.5 Total Points

Dallas Mavericks @ Boston Celtics

Dallas is having a good season on the backs of the two young stars Doncic and Porzingis. Doncic has particularly impressive so far, averaging almost a triple-double per game. On the other hand, Celtics are playing even better but they suffered a tough blow in their last game when Hayword broke his left hand after playing his best season with Celtics so far.

It seems to us that this will be a tight game, so we suggest taking Mavs on the spread because it can happen that just one basket makes a difference tonight.

Our Pick: Mavericks on the Spread (+3.5)

Houston Rockets @ New Orleans Pelicans

Houston is pretty inconsistent this season but they have managed to get 6 wins in 9 games so far. Their dynamic duo Westbrook-Harden is still trying to mesh together. On the other hand, Pelicans finally got their second win of the season in their last game against Charlotte.

We think that Rockets will win tonight but we are not so sure as to put money on it. Instead, we suggest taking over in this game despite the huge points total since both teams don’t have the word defense in their vocabulary.

Our Pick: Over 243.5 Total Points

Toronto Raptors @ Los Angeles Clippers

The moment has arrived – we will finally see George and Leonard on the court together. This should be a big boost for Clippers, although we don’t expect thing to be perfect right off the bat. On the other hand, Raptors will play without Lowry and Ibaka.

While we believe that Clippers will pull off a win tonight, we don’t expect it to be as convincing as the spread suggests. So, we would take Raptors on the spread instead.

Our Pick: Raptors on the Spread (+10.5)

Pacers are getting wins despite their massive injury problems and tonight they will also play without Turner, Oladipo, Bitadze and Lamb. On the other hand, Orlando is not playing well, winning just one of the previous five games.

Despite injury woes, we believe that Pacers are still a better team than Magic and we expect them to get the win tonight.

Our Pick: Pacers on the Moneyline

Milwaukee Bucks @ Oklahoma City Thunder

This is the second game of back-to-back for OKC after winning against Golden State last night. But tonight they have a much harder task since they play with Bucks. Despite the fact that Milwaukee lost their last match against Jazz, they are strong favorites tonight for a reason.

We believe that they will be able to get the win against the young Thunder team and we like the spread on Bucks.

Our Pick: Bucks on the Spread (-6.5)

Brooklyn Nets @ Phoenix Suns

This is probably one of the more interesting duels tonight. Nets are still looking for the best form and with so many new faces around it is understanding that they need some time to gel. On the other hand, Suns are having a surprisingly good start to the season and they have been getting wins even without suspended Ayton.

It will probably be a tight match, so we suggest betting on points instead of trying to pick the winner. We like over in this one since both teams have been good offensively this season.

Our Pick: Over 233.5

Atlanta Hawks @ Portland Trailblazers

Portland is currently on a pretty bad run, losing their last four games in a row. They are already behind the competition in the West and they need a win badly to get them out of the rut. So, a game against young Hawks who will be without Collins couldn’t come at a better time for them.

It is important to note that Whiteside is likely to miss the match tonight but Trailblazers are still strong favorites to win this game.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Charlotte Hornets

Pelicans are still looking for their second win of the season after they lost to Raptors last night. This may actually be their best chance so far since they are playing against one of the worst teams in the league.

However, Hornets are playing much better than expected and have a 4-4 record at the moment. So, it is a difficult game to predict but we like Pelicans and while they are one of the worst teams in the West, they are certainly better than Hornets, at least on paper.

Our Pick: Pelicans on the Moneyline

Dallas Mavericks @ Memphis Grizzlies

This will be the second game of back to back for Mavs after their surprising loss to Knicks in Dallas. Now they go to Memphis and hope to get back on the winning track they have been on. With Doncic in spectacular form that doesn’t seem like a big problem.

While we would appreciate if the spread was a bit smaller, we still believe that Mavs can get the win against struggling young Grizzlies.

Our Pick: Mavericks on the Spread (-4.5)

Golden State Warriors @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Warriors have gone from a dynasty to one of the worst teams in the league in just one season. Of course, much of that has to do with injuries, since Golden State will be without Curry and Green for some while, in addition to Klay Thompson who is out for the season.

On the other hand, Thunder is a young, rebuilding team and they will try to take any chance they can get for a win. While we expect them to win tonight, we feel that the spread is a bit much, especially since Warriors at least have D’Angelo Russell back.

Both teams are dealing with serious injury problems. Pistons are without a playmaker since Jackson, Rose and Frazier are all out or at least questionable. Detroit also misses Griffin. On the other hand, Indiana will play without Oladipo, Turner and probably Lamb. Even Bitadze is out, leaving only Sabonis on the center position.

While we believe that Indiana will win tonight, we don’t like the spread. We feel it is better to back under since there are so many quality players missing and scoring may be hard for both teams.

Our Pick: Under 211.5 Total Points

Sacramento Kings @ Atlanta Hawks

After losing narrowly to Raptors earlier this week, Kings are continuing their tour on the East in Atlanta. Hawks will be without suspended Collison while Kings have a clean bill of health, except for Dedmon who is questionable.

Although Kings don’t have the best start to the season, they seem a bit better in recent matches and we believe they can pull off an important win tonight.

Our Pick: Kings on the Moneyline

Toronto Raptors @ New Orleans Pelicans

Pelicans and Raptors are already scheduled to play their rematch since these teams opened the season in Toronto when Raptors won in overtime. Since then, Raptors one 5 more games, while Pelicans got just one win.

While some of the games New Orleans played without Holliday and he will be playing tonight, we don’t think that will be enough to get the W.

Our Pick: Raptors on the Moneyline

Philadelphia 76ers @ Denver Nuggets

Nuggets are sort of coasting through the season, getting the wins despite uninspiring play. In fact, it’s hard to pinpoint who in the Nuggets roster has been playing exceptionally since it seems like all of their players are playing mediocre basketball at the moment.

But they are winning. They have a record of 5-2, just like their opponents tonight. But 76ers will play without Ben Simmons and we believe that should be enough to get Nuggets over Philadelphia.

Celtics are on a good run since they have won 5 straight games and currently stand on top of the Eastern Conference. On the other hand, Hornets are playing much better than most people expected and have a 4-3 record at the moment.

But Hornets are a bad team and that is bound to catch up with them. Particularly tonight when they play with one of the best teams in the East.

Our Pick: Celtics on the Spread (-6.5)

Oklahoma City Thunder @ San Antonio Spurs

Oklahoma is a young, rebuilding team and we don’t expect them to get many wins this season. Spurs, on the other hand, are looking to get into the playoffs once again and they seem on the right track to do it, despite the somewhat surprising loss against Hawks in their last game.

We expect Spurs to bounce back from that loss and get the W tonight and we particularly like the relatively low spread against Spurs.

Our Pick: Spurs on the Spread (-4.5)

Los Angeles Clippers @ Portland Trailblazers

Trailblazers are still finding their form since they have a 3-4 record at the moment. However, they also had a tough schedule, which continues tonight when they will face one of the best teams in the league, although Clippers will be without George once again.

For that reason, a loss for Clippers tonight would not be a huge surprise and we suggest betting on points instead of trying to guess who wins. Both teams are good offensively, so over seems like a logical bet.

Pacers are somehow managing to win games despite being without both centers for the past few games, in addition to their star player Oladipo. While Turner is definitely out for tonight, Sabonis is still listed as questionable.

But whether Sabonis plays or not, Pacers are in good form and should be able to deal with the struggling Wizards team without any trouble.

Our Pick: Pacers on the Moneyline

New York Knicks @ Detroit Pistons

Detroit is coming into this game after a loss in Washington, which was not a surprise given the problems Pistons have with injuries. They will also be without Griffin, Jackson and Rose for tonight’s game, which basically means that they are playing without a playmaker.

But they are hosting Knicks. Yes, Knicks are playing according to expectations with just 1 win in 7 games. This might be a good chance for them to get another W but we just can’t trust Knicks. Take the under.

Our Pick: Under 212.5 Total Points

Chicago Bulls @ Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young is back in the mix after missing a couple of games due to injury and Hawks managed to win against Spurs in his first game back. Tonight, they play against struggling Bulls and despite being without Collins due to suspension, they have a nice opportunity to get another win.

However, we feel that this can be a tight contest and suggest betting on points instead. Atlanta plays a fast-paced basketball and there should be many points on both sides.

Our Pick: Over 218.5 Total Points

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Memphis Grizzlies

Minnesota is playing well this season and Wolves even managed to get one win in two games that they played without Towns. But their best player is back tonight and with them playing against one of the worst teams in the West, we expect them to get the win.

The spread is a bit high for our liking, however, so it may be smarter to take worse odds and bet on Wolves on the moneyline.

Indiana Pacers @ Charlotte Hornets

Pacers have found a good rhythm after their rocky start, winning three games in a row to move up the ladder. Even though they are playing without Oladipo who is out for the foreseeable future, they are playing well and should get on a good run in the future.

On the other hand, Charlotte is one of the worst teams in the league, although they have already won three games this season and have a record of 3-3 like Indiana. In addition to this, Pacers will probably be without both Turner and Sabonis tonight and that may be a chance for Hornets to get the win. We still believe in Pacers but it is better to back under in this game since both teams are not very efficient.

Our Pick: Under 216.5 Total Points

Boston Celtics @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Boston only lost one game this season so far, which is not a great surprise since Celtics are one of the best teams in the East despite the changes they made this summer. Cavaliers, however, are destined to struggle this season and finish in the bottom of the standings.

Cavs have a record of 2-4 but they have lost two games in a row now. We believe that a third loss is coming tonight and we expect it to be convincing.

Our Pick: Celtics on the Spread (-5.5)

Orlando Magic @ Oklahoma City Thunder

OKC is a young team except for Chris Paul and there will be many ups and downs for them this season. However, they have been playing well so far despite their record of 2-4 to start the campaign. With Magic coming to town, OKC has a realistic chance to get that third win since Orlando is struggling at the moment and has the same record.

So, this should be a very tight contest and we feel it is safer to bet on points instead on the final score. With total points set at 204.5, we believe that these teams will manage to get over that threshold.

Our Pick: Over 204.5 Total Points

Los Angeles Lakers @ Chicago Bulls

As it was expected before the season, Lakers are sitting on top of the Western Conference with just one loss in 6 games. LeBron and Davis are starting to gel and the Lakers should only get better as the season progresses.

On the other hand, Bulls are a struggling young team. They have won 2 games in their 7 matches this season but it doesn’t seem very likely that they can put up much of a fight against Lakers.

Pistons are coming into this match after a somewhat surprising win against Nets since they are still playing without Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson. However, Andre Drummond is playing amazing basketball at the moment and he is pushing Pistons to get the wins.

On the other hand, Washington is still at just one win for the season and they can’t really expect to get much better given the quality of their team. We expect their struggles to continue tonight.

Our Pick: Pistons on the Spread (+1.5)

New Orleans Pelicans @ Brooklyn Nets

Pelicans have only won one game so far. Their expectations were shattered even before the season began with news of Zion’s injury and they have been performing according to the lowered expectations ever since.

On the other hand, Nets are pretty inconsistent and still seem like they are looking for their best form, which is understandable since there are many new faces in Brooklyn. However, they should be able to get the W tonight despite their inconsistency.

Our Pick: Nets on the Spread (-3.5)

Milwaukee Bucks @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Timberwolves will be without Towns for the second straight game since he is still suspended for the fight with Embiid. But Wolves have showed a lot of heart in the face of this problems since they managed to get a comfortable win against Wizards in the last game.

However, now they will be playing against one of the best teams in the league. Bucks are 4-2 to start the season and they will take this unique opportunity to get a road win in the West.

Our Pick: Bucks on the Spread (-6)

Philadelphia 76ers @ Phoenix Suns

Just like the Wolves with Towns, 76ers will miss Embiid tonight due to suspension. But they have also managed to get the win without their center after making a great comeback in the road game against Trailblazers.

Suns are also playing great basketball at the moment even though they are without Ayton, which has come as a surprise to many. So, we suggest staying clear of the final score and taking over instead since both teams are missing their defensive centers.

Our Pick: Over 222.5

Sacramento Kings @ New York Knicks

Kings were a pleasant surprise last season but this season they have one of the worst records in the league with just one win in six games. However, New York Knicks have the same record in a much weaker Eastern Conference.

While Knicks have the advantage of playing in front of the home crowd in Madison Square Garden, we believe that Sacramento is a better team.

Our Pick: Sacramento on the Moneyline

Houston Rockets @ Miami Heat

Rockets are pretty inconsistent this season, which is not a surprise since they have made a major change adding Westbrook this summer. While they are still trying to find the rhythm, Heat has been playing great basketball. They have 4 wins in 5 games and they have been great at home, winning two games so far.

We like this young Heat team led by Jimmy Butler and we believe they can surprise Rockets tonight and take the W.

Our Pick: Heat on the Spread (+4)

Los Angeles Lakers @ San Antonio Spurs

Spurs have started the season well but they had a good schedule and were a bit lucky to win as many games as they did so far. Now they are playing host to LeBron and Davis and we expect this match to show just how lucky Spurs were so far.

We like the fact that Spurs are slight favorites, so taking Lakers on the moneyline also brings a slightly better odds.

Our Pick: Lakers on the Moneyline

Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Clippers

Clippers are one of the main favorites to win the title this season but Jazz is also a great team that will certainly be in the mix at the end of the season. For now, Clippers are without Paul George and while we still like their chances in this game, we fell that betting on points is a safer thing to do.

Both teams are well-known for their great defense and they have a lot of great individual defenders as well. Take the under.

Nets come into this game after a win against Rockets and seem poised to continue the run against Griffin-less Pistons. Detroit is not in good form having lost 4 out of 6 games so far and it seems unlikely that they can stop the bleeding against one of the best teams in the East.

The low spread makes betting on Brooklyn even more enticing but if you are not sure about it, you should put your money on over since both teams can score well.

Our Pick: Nets on the Spread (-1.5)

Denver Nuggets @ Orlando Magic

Nuggets lost two games in a row and they don’t look like the team that was first in the Western Confidence after regular season last year. Luckily for them, they have a chance to snap the losing streak against out-of-form Magic.

We believe that Nuggets will prevail tonight and once again, we particularly like the low spread on Nuggets.

Our Pick: Nuggets on the Spread (-4)

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Washington Wizards

After the scuffle between Embiid and Towns in their last meeting, both players have been suspended for two games. While that may not hurt 76ers so much since they have Horford to provide some relief, Wolves will certainly feel the absence of their best player.

With that in mind, we like Wizards for tonight, even though we don’t like them in general. But despite being one of the worst teams in the league, Washington is not playing such a bad basketball at the moment.

Our Pick: Wizards on the Spread (-2)

Philadelphia 76ers @ Portland Trailblazers

As we already mentioned, Philadelphia will be without Embiid tonight and while they have a very good team without him as well, it’s hard to back them up against Blazers on the road. On the other hand, Blazers are pretty inconsistent so far and don’t instill confidence either.

Seems that the best thing to do is bet on points in this game and since 76ers are without their best defender, over looks like a smart choice.

After starting off with three straight losses, Indiana managed to finally win a game against Brooklyn. Cleveland is also Indiana is a playoff team, even without Oladipo but tonight they will also be without Myles Turner. Cavs are at 2-2, including a home court win against Pacers.

Regardless of that, we expect Pacers to deal with Cavs easily tonight, so back up the spread on Pacers.

Our Pick: Pacers on the Spread (-7.5)

Houston Rockets @ Brooklyn Nets

Nets are not having the best start to the season, having lost three out of their four matches so far. However, two of those were one-point losses in overtime. On the other hand, Rockets are on a three-game winning streak after losing their opening match against Bucks.

While we lean towards Rockets in this game, it is probably safer to bet on points here. Both teams are scoring well, with Rockets coming into the game after combining for over 300 points with Wizards. Over is pretty high, understandably, but we still believe it is a smart bet.

Our Pick: Over 240.5 Total Points

Los Angeles Lakers @ Dallas Mavericks

The most exciting match of the evening will take place in Dallas, where the young Mavs are waiting on the veteran Lakers. Both teams are moved by dynamic duos and while we like Doncic and Porzingis, it is unwise to bet against James and Davis.

Perhaps the safer thing to do is take over in this game as well, especially since the spread on Mavs is basically nonexistent.

Our Pick: Over 216.5 Total Points

San Antonio Spurs @ Golden State Warriors

After winning the first three games of the season, Spurs have lost to Clippers last night. Luckily for them, they play Warriors in their second game of back-to-back. I say luckily because Warriors are currently looking like a lottery team.

And if that wasn’t enough, Curry broke his hand in their last game against the Suns. While it is still unclear how long he will be out, it’s certain that he will miss at least a couple of months. Spurs should win this game fairly easy.

After spraining his ankle in the last game, Trae Young will have to rest for a while before getting back in the action. With that in mind, Hawks seem destined to struggle against anybody, let alone a solid Heat team who got Jimmy Butler back after missing the start of the season due to the birth of his child.

Heat is in good form, Hawks are on a two-game losing streak and it seems pretty clear who the winner is going to be tonight.

Our Pick: Heat on the spread (-6)

Denver Nuggets @ New Orleans Pelicans

Nuggets are not playing great at the moment but they were still getting the wins until their last game against Mavs. Jokic seems out of shape and a bit sluggish on the court, despite recording a couple of triple-doubles so far.

That being said, Pelicans are still without a win this season and without their star rookie Zion Williamson. Jrue Holiday will be joining the team tonight after missing a couple of matches due to injury but that hardly seems enough to get Pelicans their first win of the season.

Our Pick: Nuggets on the Spread (-2.5)

San Antonio Spurs @ Los Angeles Clippers

Clippers are 3-2 for the season, despite being without Paul George and having Leonard on load-management. They look like a real contender right now. On the other hand, Spurs are 3-0 at the start of the season and seem poised for the playoffs again.

In this match, however, we suggest betting on points instead of trying to guess the winner. With the total points set at 225.5 and both teams able to play solid defense, we believe this game will go under.

Knicks got their first win of the season on Sunday against Chicago in Madison Square Garden. However, it took a surprising performance from Portis to turn that game around, even though they were playing against a similarly bad team.

Tonight, however, they will play on the road against one of the better teams in the East. And even though we feel like the spread could have been a bit lower, we still believe in Magic.

Our Pick: Magic on the Spread (-9)

Milwaukee Bucks @ Boston Celtics

When two of the best conference teams meet, it is probably best to leave the final outcome predictions alone. Even though Celtics will be playing without Kanter due to a knee injury, we still find this game too close to call.

However, both teams can play great offense and we expect that to be the case tonight. With exceptional three-point shooting, Bucks can certainly score in bulk and Celtics are not far behind.

Our Pick: Over 221.5 Total Points

Houston Rockets @ Washington Wizards

Although Rockets don’t seem impressive at the start of the new season and it seems like Harden and Westbrook are still working on their on-court chemistry, Houston shouldn’t struggle to deal with the rebuilding Wizards.

Washington did manage to win one game in their first three matches, but those wins are bound to be a fluke rather than a rule, especially against teams from the Western Conference.

Our Pick: Rockets on the Spread (-8)

Phoenix Suns @ Golden State Warriors

Suns have been a pleasant surprise so far, winning two games and losing two games by a single point. In addition to this, they have been playing well even without Ayton who is suspended for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, Warriors lost their first two games in embarrassing fashion before beating Charlotte to get some of their confidence back.

So, despite coming into this game in completely different moods, we believe that Warriors will find a way to pull off another win and get back on track, especially since their starting center Willie Cauley-Stein is expected back after an injury to help the struggling Warriors.

Although Hawks are a very young and exciting team, Heat has more experience and seems poised to take advantage of it in this game.

Our Pick: Heat on the Spread (-8)

Dallas Mavericks @ Denver Nuggets

Despite unimpressive play so far in the season, Nuggets are having a run of three wins in a row. With their star player Jokic still finding the groove, Nuggets can expect much better performances in the future.

On the other hand, Dallas is already rolling on the backs of two young prospects Doncic and Porzingis, even though they lost to Portland in their last outing. This seems like a good game to try over total points since both teams are better in offense then defense.

Our Pick: Over 216.5 Total Points

Memphis Grizzlies @ Los Angeles Lakers

The young Grizzlies managed to get their first win of the season against the odds-favorite Nets. However, they played at home, while they now travel to LA to play with one of the contenders led by James and Davis.

This seems like a clear cut win for Lakers, although the spread seems a bit high for our liking. That’s why we prefer betting on points here, especially because it seems that the total is a bit on the high side.

Both teams will be without their star players for this match – Indiana without Oladipo and Detroit without Griffin. Indiana is the better team on paper, having better depth than Pistons. However, they started the season with two losses and still seem to be finding the rhythm after many roster changes they made this summer.

On the other hand, Pistons are playing well, especially Drummond. And playing in front of the home crowd is a nice advantage, so take Pistons on the moneyline.

Our Pick: Pistons on the Moneyline

Philadelphia 76ers @ Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young started the season firing from all cylinders, much in the way that he finished the last season. In addition to this, the rest of this young Hawks team is playing well too and go into this game with two wins under their belt and full of confidence.

On the other hand, 76ers also started the season with two wins but they may be without Embiid for tonight since he is still questionable due to his ankle injury. We like Hawks and the energy they play with, so we suggest backing them tonight.

Our Pick: Hawks on the Spread (+3.5)

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Milwaukee Bucks

Despite having one of the worst teams in the league, Cavs have already managed to win one game against a much better team when they beat Pacers. However, they are now playing against Bucks on the road and the only question is by how many points they will lose.

Since the spread on Bucks is huge, we prefer to bet on total points here. Cavs don’t have much of a scoring potential, especially against a defense as strong as Milwaukee’s. So we suggest betting on under here.

Our Pick: Under 221.5 Total Points

Denver Nuggets @ Sacramento Kings

After nearly missing the playoffs last year despite being touted as one of the worst teams in the league, Kings have started the new season in a very disappointing fashion, losing three games in a row, all with a significant margin. And they lost Bagley to injury for the next 4-5 weeks.

On the other hand, Nuggets are 2-0 and seem poised to be as good as they were last season, when they finished on top of the Western Conference in regular season. We expect an easy win for Nuggets.

Warriors began the season with a crushing and convincing defeat to Los Angeles Clippers. While they are certainly shaken by this loss that exposed many weakness in the team, they have a good chance to bounce back with a win against OKC.

Thunder is one of the worst teams in the league and while they have a few young prospects and Chris Paul, they will struggle to get wins this season. They already lost two games, one of which was to poor Wizards.

Our Prediction: Warriors on the Moneyline

Brooklyn Nets @ Memphis Grizzlies

Grizzlies are still looking for their first win of the season after losing to Chicago and Miami in the first two games of the season. Unfortunately for them, Nets are a good team and they should be able to take the win here despite being on the road.

However, we feel that the safer bet is to back under since Grizzlies are not really a great offensive team but they can play solid defense.

Our Pick: Under 223.5 Total Points

Miami Heat @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Timberwolves stated the season with two wins, which is a bit of a surprise. However, Towns has been playing on MVP level and other Wolves have contributed within their means to make the team relevant at the start of the season.

On the other hand, Miami won against Grizzlies and lost in overtime against Bucks. They play solid basketball but they will be without Butler once again. This, coupled with the fact that this is their second game of back-to-back, seems enough to make us confident in Timberwolves tonight.

Bucks started the season with an important away win against Rockets. Giannis carried his MVP form from last season into this one, getting a triple-double and showcasing an improved 3-point shot. Miami, on the other hand, wasn’t impressive in the season opener despite getting the win against struggling Grizzlies.

Heat will also be without Butler for this game and it seems that Bucks should get the win here pretty easily.

Our Pick: Bucks on the Spread (-10.5)

Orlando Magic @ Atlanta Hawks

After creeping into the playoffs last year, Magic started the season with a win against Cavaliers, one of the worst teams in the league. Hawks also won their first match, although it was against Griffin-less Pistons in their second game of back-to-back.

While we lean towards Atlanta here we also believe that betting on over total points is a safer bet. Atlanta was one of the worst defensive teams last season and they play a fast-paced offense, so getting to 118 points total shouldn’t be a problem for these two teams.

Our Pick: Over 117.5 Total Points

Toronto Raptors @ Chicago Bulls

Raptors are 1-1 to start the season, winning in overtime against Pelicans and losing to Boston on the road. While the reigning champs were not that impressive in these two games, they should win against Bulls simply because they are a much better team.

In addition to this, the spread on Raptors seems pretty generous, so we feel compelled to take this unique opportunity.

Our Pick: Raptors on the Spread (-3)

Washington Wizards @ San Antonio Spurs

Wizards are without a doubt one of the worst teams in the league. However, they managed to get a win last night against Oklahoma, a fellow bottom team for this season. Spurs started the season with a less-than-convincing win against Knicks and seem poised to improve their record tonight.

With Wizards being as bad as they are and with them playing the second game of back-to-back, going with Spurs here seems like the only logical bet.

It is a tough game to predict but we believe in Raptors, especially if Siakam and VanVleet can play as well as they did in the first game of the season.

Our Pick: Toronto on the Spread (+2.5)

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Charlotte Hornets

Timberwolves surprised many (including us) with an overtime win in Brooklyn two nights ago. What didn’t surprise us was great performance by Towns, who nailed 7 threes and had 36 points at the end.

And even though Hornets also won, they did it against fellow strugglers Chicago Bulls and still project to be one of the worst teams in the NBA at the end of the season. Take the Wolves here.

Our Pick: Timberwolves on the Spread (-5.5)

Dallas Mavericks @ New Orleans Pelicans

We finally saw the Mavs future in their win over Washington – the dynamic duo Doncic/Porzingis. Even though Dallas doesn’t have much to offer outside these two in terms of talent, we believe that will be enough for Pelicans.

Although Pelicans’ youngsters showed a lot of heart by taking Raptors to overtime in a road game, they are without Zion and we feel that Mavs will manage to exploit it.

Our Pick: Dallas on the Moneyline

Phoenix Suns @ Denver Nuggets

Suns took a surprising but pretty convincing win against Kings on Wednesday and showed that they will not roll over without a fight like they did these past few years. However, today the news broke that their second-year start DeAndre Ayton was suspended by the NBA for 25 games for using diuretics.

Suns were not going to get out of Denver with a win even before these news but now we truly feel comfortable backing the high spread on Denver.

Add the fact that Pistons are without Blake Griffin for this match and suddenly, backing Hawks here seems like a good idea.

Our Pick: Hawks on the Spread (+1)

Milwaukee Bucks @ Houston Rockets

Both teams are playing their first game of the new NBA season and it promises to be a very interesting one. It is hard to predict how Rockets will look with Westbrook. On the other hand, Bucks didn’t change much and they had a good season, so we would give a slight advantage to Milwaukee here.

However, one thing is certain – both teams score a lot of points. We feel that the safer bet is to go with over for this matchup.

Our Pick: Over 230.1 Total Points

Los Angeles Clippers @ Golden State Warriors

Clippers started the season with a statement win against Lakers. It was a very important victory, especially since they played without Paul George. They are without him still but GSW will miss Thompson, who is probably out for the season.

It should be a very tight contest, so it is perhaps better to bet on total points. Clippers have the ability to play amazing defense, so we suggest taking under on total points.

Even before the season started, it is more than evident that Hornets are one of the worst teams in the league. After losing Walker and Lamb, they brought in Rozier but not much has changed other than that.

On the other hand, Chicago is entering the season with young team, with one more year of experience on their hands. And even though they are a lock to miss the playoffs as well, they should win this one.

Our Pick: Bulls on the Spread (-3)

Detroit Pistons @ Indiana Pacers

Indiana played some really nice basketball last season. And while they are still without Oladipo and they lost Collison and Bojan Bogdanovic in the offseason, they got TJ Warren and Brogdon now.

Pistons are mainly the same team as they were last season, with minor changes to the roster. And they enter the season without Griffin, who should miss at least a week due to injury. This seems like a pretty clear-cut win for the home team.

Our Pick: Pacers on the Spread (-5)

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Brooklyn Nets

Nets are one of the favorites in the East but they will need some time to gel since they have many new players, including their new star playmaker Irving. On the other hand, Wolves didn’t change much, so they remain borderline PO team in the West. If we had too, we would take the Nets here but it’s better to bet on point.

Both teams played efficient basketball last season, while T-Wolves also didn’t play much defense either. So, taking over seems like a smart play.

Our Pick: Over 225.5 Total Points

Memphis Grizzlies @ Miami Heat

Miami made a few important changes in the offseason, bringing in Butler and letting Whiteside go. Memphis parted ways with their long-term playmaker Mike Conley, thus committing to the rebuild completely.

With Heat looking to get back into the playoffs this year, they have to win games like these against inferior opponents. And we fully expect them to do so.

The new NBA season begins with the team that won it all the last year – Toronto Raptors. Current champions are ready to kick it off in front of their faithful fans, even though they are entering this season without the Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard.

On the other side is the young team full of hope, team that lost Anthony Davis in the offseason but, with a lot of luck, got the first pick in the draft and with it Zion Williamson. Unfortunately, Zion will have to wait a couple of months for his NBA debut after he had a surgery on his knee.

Without Zion, New Orleans doesn’t look like a serious threat to Raptors, especially in front of the great fans in Toronto. We suggest taking the spread on Raptors.

Our Pick: Raptors on the Spread (-7)

Los Angeles Lakers @ Los Angeles Clippers

A lot of things have changed in LA since last season. Both teams added big names to improve their rosters and they enter the season as the main favorites for the title. However, Clippers will be without Paul George for several games to start the season, while Lakers may be without Rondo, who is a game time decision.

Since Clippers are the home team in this match, we believe that it will be a tight contest, despite the absence of George. That’s why we prefer betting on under here.

NBA Predictions 2020

The new NBA season is less than a fortnight away and the excitement of the fans is evident in the enormous interest in the preseason, which is in full swing.

Of course, Zion Williamson is probably the biggest reason for it but the most interesting NBA summer ever, and many roster changes it brought, are also responsible for the high expectations of the upcoming 2019/2020 NBA season. So, with the opening day getting closer, the time for pre-season predictions is slowly running out. With that in mind, we have decided to take a look at some of the best teams and share a few bold predictions with you.

NBA Predictions 2020 Our Picks:  Top Teams to Watch

Los Angeles Lakers

After many mediocre or even bad seasons, it seems that the more popular LA team is finally relevant again. And with LeBron James getting closer to retirement with each passing year, the window for his championship dreams is also getting smaller.

The biggest change is certainly the addition of Anthony Davis. Former Pelican star and LeBron threaten to become one of the more iconic duos in recent NBA history. The team also got Danny Green in FA, a very important player to two different champions. They also added Avery Bradley, Dwight Howard and Jared Dudley, and kept Kyle Kuzma, the only part of their young core to survive the Davis trade.

It seems that this Lakers team lacks the depth to compete for the title. However, we know from previous experience that LeBron can find another gear for playoffs, so they certainly have to be considered as contenders.

Los Angeles Clippers

Perhaps the biggest winners of the offseason, LA Clippers pulled an unbelievable feat – they signed multiple Finals MVP winner Kawhi Leonard and traded with OKC for another superstar in Paul George. And more importantly, they managed to do so while keeping a few very important pieces like the evergreen Sixth Man Lou Williams and promising young center Montrezl Harrell.

In addition to this, Clippers also brought back the defensive force called Patrick Beverly. This means that they have a scary potential for defense and offense both. They do lack creativity in the backcourt but that probably won’t be necessary with isolation artists like Kawhi and Lou.

After the somewhat surprising playoff berth in the previous season, LA Clippers seem destined for the championship race in this one.

Denver Nuggets

Denver didn’t do much in the offseason – they didn’t really need to. They kept their young core, picked up Millsap’s team option and signed Jamal Murray to a max contract. The team that reached the Western Semifinals lead by the unassuming but brilliant Nikola Jokic is back together and ready to take another big step.

Perhaps the biggest improvement to the team is the signing of Jerami Grant from Oklahoma, who will certainly help the Nugget’s defense. There is also excitement surrounding Michael Porter Jr. and his long-awaited return from injury.

Nuggets have a lot of potential but it seems that they are still a couple of years away from seriously competing for the championship.

Golden State Warriors

After losing the Finals last year even though they have been touted as champions before the season even started, Warriors also lost Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets. They will be without Klay Thompson for the majority of the season, if not the whole season, and it seems that their dynasty is slowly fading away.

However, Warriors got D’Angelo Russell for Durant, so they didn’t really end up empty-handed as many expected. Splash brothers are still together, Draymond Green is still here and it would be unwise to rule out Warriors upfront.

While they might struggle to make the playoffs in the never-stronger Western Conference, they might get Thompson back in time for their post-season run. And if that happens, anything is possible.

Portland Trail Blazers

Portland surprised many last season by reaching the Western Conference Finals, where they easily lost to Golden State. This result is the crown achievement for this Blazers generation, led by Lillard and McCollum, and it is probably safe to say that it will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Portland is a good team but they are hardly contenders. They added Hassan Whiteside this summer, in an attempt to resurrect his career fully and cover the center position while Jusuf  Nurkic recovers from his season-ending leg injury.

The team lost Aminu and Harkless in the summer but they extended Rodney Hood who had a very good postseason. They also added a few solid free agents in Hezonja, Tolliver and Labissiere. However, this all seems lateral at best and repeating the last year’s feat seems like a tough task.

Houston Rockets

After a couple of seasons where they were the only legit threat to Golden State Warriors in the West, Rockets fell apart in the playoffs last year. And with that result in mind, they have made one huge change to the roster – they traded Chris Paul to OKC in exchange for Russell Westbrook.

So, after many years since their appearance in the Finals with Oklahoma, the duo is back together once again and ready to conquer the NBA. But is that a realistic sentiment? While Harden and Westbrook worked well together before, a lot has changed since then. Harden is now the undoubted leader of his team, while he was basically a Sixth Man for Oklahoma back then.

The entire Rockets’ season will depend on the chemistry between the two. If they can find a way to work together on the court, Houston may once again come close to getting into the NBA Finals.

Utah Jazz

Probably the last team in the West that has a chance of going all the way this year is Utah Jazz. Jazzers made a bunch of great offseason moves and they are one of the favorites from the shadow. They are not a flashy team, they don’t have a legit superstar but they have strong foundations and a great coach.

Utah lost Rubio to Phoenix in FA but they added Mike Conley via trade even before that. Some would say that it was an upgrade but at the very least they didn’t lose anything here. The team also added a great scorer from Pacers, Bojan Bogdanovic, as well as a few solid free agents like Ed Davis and Jeff Green.

In order to placate these moves, Utah had to let Favors go. However, it seems that this team has the potential to play amazing defense with Gobert, Ingles, Conley and Mitchell in the lineup, while the offensive potential is higher than ever with Bogdanovic addition. Beware of Utah Jazz – they may be the surprise of the year.

Toronto Raptors

The current champions had a rough summer. After winning the first-ever title for the team and for entire Canada, Raptors lost their best player in free agency. With Kawhi gone, repeating the success of last year seems impossible.

While this will probably be the case, Raptors still have a solid team. They are led by a couple of veterans in Lowry, Ibaka and Marc Gasol, so they won’t lack experience. They also have the Most Improved Player of last year, Pascal Siakam, and it seems that this could be his team in the future.

Without space in the cap, Toronto could only make a few lateral moves in the offseason. They are still strong enough to make a run for the Eastern Conference Finals, although that seems like the ceiling for them this year.

Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid’s tears at the end of the game 7 of the Conference Semifinals, which 76 lost in the last second of the game after Leonard scored an amazing basket, are probably the highlight of the season for this young and ambitious team.

Philadelphia made a few important changes this year – they lost Butler and JJ Redick in the offseason but they added Josh Richardson and Al Horford. With Ben Simmons supposedly working on his 3-point shot this summer, this may be enough to keep the 76 in contention for the highest honors. However, it is probably still a bit early for them to truly contend for the title.

Boston Celtics

Celtics probably had the roughest summer, behind Toronto Raptors. They lost Kyrie Irving to Brooklyn and Horford to 76ers. However, it seems that Irving was not a great fit in Boston and this may come as a blessing in disguise.

Boston reacted quickly to this and added Kemba Walker, a great player who falls a bit short of Irving’s talent. They also added Enes Kanter to cover the center position, a move that will bring them something extra on the offensive side of the court but will undoubtedly hurt them in defense.

Terry Rozier left the team to get a big contract in Charlotte. So, with all these moves, it seems that Boston is somewhat weaker than before. However, with Tatum and Jaylen Brown a year older, and Hayward looking to bounce back to his Utah Jazz glory days, Celtics should still be taken very seriously this year.

Milwaukee Bucks

With reigning MVP at their disposal, Bucks are probably the main favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference. They fell short last year when they lost to would-be champions Toronto Raptors and they enter this year without former Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon and Spanish international Nikola Mirotic.

However, Bucks added Wesley Matthews and Robin Lopez this summer. In addition to keeping their core players like Middleton, Brook Lopez and Bledsoe, Bucks look primed for another great year and maybe even a championship berth.

Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn Nets made quite a splash this offseason when they added Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Although Durant will spend the entire season working his way back after a torn Achilles tendon, Nets seem good enough to fight for the top even this year.

The team has kept the young core that propelled them into the playoffs, with the exception of D’Angelo Russell who was shipped off to GS Warriors. Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen and Rodions Kurucs are all back and ready to mix it up with the help of DeAndre Jordan and Taurean Prince.

While Nets may not be true contenders until the next season when Durant comes back, they still have a very strong roster that could do a lot of damage in the East.

2020 NBA Season Predictions

With one of the most exciting summers behind us, the new NBA season threatens to be one of the most unpredictable seasons ever. There are legitimately at least 10 teams with reasonable championship dreams and while this kind of parity is great for the league and the fans, it is not great for pundits.

Any kind of prediction for the outcome of the upcoming NBA season has to be taken with a grain of salt for this reason. That being said, we do have a few predictions to make:

Hawks Make the Playoffs

The Eastern Conference is traditionally much weaker than the Western Conference. This leaves some room for young and upcoming teams like Atlanta to fight for the playoff spot. We believe that they can do it and that they will barely reserve the last postseason ticket in the East.

Nuggets Have the Best Record

After having the best record in the West last year, we expect the Nuggets to kick it up a notch and end up with the best record in the entire NBA this season. Although we don’t expect them to go all the way, the fact that other teams in the West will have to deal with load management for their major stars leaves Nuggets in a great position to claim the top spot.

Lakers Win the Championship

Yes, we said it. Lakers will win it all! We expect Bucks to come out of the Eastern Conference and lose to LeBron and Davis in the Finals, as long as two of them can stay healthy for the postseason.

Let the games begin!

Predictions for the 2019 NBA playoffs: Toronto Raptors vs. Golden State Warriors

NBA Finals Game 6 Predictions

The Warriors faced an uphill battle going into the fifth game of the 2018/19 NBA Finals, but they found the winning mentality to edge past Toronto by a single-point margin and bring the series back to Oakland. The Raptors thus prolonged maiden NBA title celebrations after missing on a huge chance to lock the tie on Monday night at Scotiabank Arena.

Nonetheless, Toronto still has the 3-2 advantage and are just one win shy of clinching their inaugural NBA silverware. They are looking at a serious test ahead of Thursday’s Game 6 at Oracle Arena, but don’t forget the Canadian side has won both Game 3 and Game 4 in California. Can they repeat such success and finish the job here? We’ll try and help you find the best betting options with the crucial information related to the Game 6 tie.

Golden State Warriors: It’s All about Splash Brothers

Luck has turned down Steve Kerr and his troops throughout the entire playoffs. Kevin Durant enjoyed a spectacular spell of form throughout most of the season and at the start of the playoffs, but the Warriors are forced to try and make it count without his help this time around. The injury ruled him out in the Game 5 of the Western Conference semis against Houston Rockets and it did the same in this final against the Raptors.  Durant suffered an Achilles injury and Monday and could reportedly be on a one-year break from basketball. Kerr obviously took a risk having him on the court in Game 5 and it resulted in the worst case scenario for both the team and the player. Unlike KD, Kevon Looney will likely be available for this sixth game. Klay Thompson skipped Game 3 with a hamstring injury, but it obviously did not affect his strong showings in two following matches.

We thus expect Kerr to start with Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Green, and Looney.

Golden State Warriors

The main problem for the Warriors is the fact they are heavily dependent on Splash Brothers in the entire series against Toronto. Steph Curry took the responsibility in Durant’s absence and he is averaging 32.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists in the Finals. Nevertheless, he is at 36% from downtown. The somewhat lower percentage is certainly a product of a strong defensive effort namely from Fred Van Vleet. Klay had much better field-goal percentages in four games he featured. He is above 50% from the field and at 25.0 points on average in the Finals.

Now, Golden State is in a desperate need for a genuine third option on the offensive end. Draymond Green is the only man other than Splash Brothers with double digits in this final. He is at 12.8 pts on average, while DeMarcus Cousins is at miserable 7.6 pts. Steve Kerr used as many as 13 different players in his rotations so far in the series, but it all comes down to Curry and Thompson at the end of the day.

Apart from struggles for diversity offensively, the Warriors face problems of their own at the opposite end. They tried to stop Kawhi Leonard with Andre Iguodala, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, but none of them did the job so far as the former San Antonio Spurs superstar is enjoying the best form of his career at the moment. Warriors tried to slow him down by helping from the weak side, but it left some wide open shots for the likes of Marc Gasol and Pascal Siakam (primarily). DeMarcus Cousins is probably Kerr’s biggest defensive liability as Van Vleet, Lowry and Leonard usually attack him on the pick with great success.

Toronto Raptors: Team Effort with an Amazing Leader in the Like of Kawhi Leonard

The huge three-pointer at the buzzer of the decisive Game 7 tie against Philadelphia 76-ers in the Eastern Conference semi-final announced a historical run for Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors. They went 0-2 down to Milwaukee Bucks in the conference finals but managed to claw their way back into the tie and eventually advance to the huge NBA Finals.

Kawhi was on a one-year break last season and it was strange to see Toronto giving up on their key man DeMar DeRozan for San Antonio’s Leonard. It looked to be a one-year-rental as Leonard’s contract expires this summer, but the campaign Kawhi had north of the border this season announces the continuation of collaboration through a potential max contract.

We just had to mention this as Leonard has been doing an incredible job on both ends of the floor throughout the entire playoffs run. He is averaging double-double figures in the NBA Finals (29.8 pts and 10.6 rbs). Whether it’s a three-point shot, mid-range field goal or drive to the basket, Kawhi has been unstoppable so far.

Apart from such extraordinary showings from their superstar, the key to Toronto’s success is the width they have on the floor. Unlike the Warriors, the Raptors have six different players with double figures in points on average in this final. Siakam (18.6 pts) and Lowry (14.2 pts, 6.6 AST) stepped up, while Gasol and Van Vleet have been “X” factors as well with a huge contribution at both ends.

The main difference-maker in the past five matches was Kawhi’s fabulous defensive sequence. He basically stopped Golden State’s most lethal attacking weapon with a marvelous defense on Draymond Green. The famous Curry-Green pick thus does not hurt the raptors too much as Kerr’s men rather need to rely on individual efforts from their Splash Brothers.

Nick Nurse should not make any changes to his standard starting line-up Lowry, Green, Leonard, Siakam, and Gasol.

The Verdict: Raptors to Make History

The Warriors did steal the victory on Monday, but don’t forget they’ve lost both home matches in this final. The reigning champions have their winning mentality, but we doubt it will help them with such limited rotation and the lack of third-option on the offensive end. From the betting perspective, we fancy money line on Toronto Raptors, set at +130. More conservative punters can back the Canadian outfit not to lose by four or more points margin as Toronto’s +3.00 spread is paid at -111.

raptors track records

There are fantastic eye-catching bets in the player’s props market. The most appealing one is certainly Klay Thompson Over 23.5 points at -120. Golden State only has two attacking options at the moment and Klay has been at 25.0 points on average in four games against the Raptors so far.

The Warriors will likely use the help from the weak side a lot in defending Kawhi Leonard which is why Marc Gasol should have some easy field-goals. He is at a double-digit figure in points in this series and we find the value in backing the Spaniard to score more than 9.5 points at -130 odds here.
